When you search for “download Dofus 3”, several kinds of pages may come up: the publisher’s site, directories, videos, private servers that use the client. They do not offer the same thing, and a name or a logo does not prove where a file comes from. This guide helps you identify the source before downloading, without making assumptions about what each page offers.
The official download
The game Dofus is published by Ankama. Ankama’s support publishes a list of official websites, updated on May 20, 2026 and accessed on October 13, 2026, which includes www.dofus.com, account.ankama.com, support.ankama.com and status.ankama.com, among others. It states that any login to its game sites redirects to account.ankama.com, and that you should never give your username and password to a site that does not lead to this login page.
To get the official client, start from www.dofus.com, typed by hand or saved as a bookmark, then follow the site’s download section. This article does not describe the content of that page, which belongs to Ankama and may change: no platforms, no versions, no installation steps.
Ankama’s support also asks players not to look up a site based on keywords given by a player in game, not to trust invalid links sent in game, and never to download files related to its games from an unofficial site (article on phishing, updated May 20, 2026).
The Togu launcher and its separate purpose
Togu is a private server, not affiliated with Ankama. Its launcher is not Ankama’s launcher and is not an official Dofus download. According to the pages published on this site at the time of writing:
- The Togu launcher installs the official Dofus 3 client and is downloaded from this page;
- it is available for macOS Apple silicon and Windows x64;
- the macOS client mod requires Rosetta 2;
- access to the closed alpha is free by invitation: request a code in the Togu Discord, create a Togu account, then confirm your email address.
A Togu account is separate from an Ankama account. Togu never asks for Ankama credentials: if a page or program claiming to be Togu asks for them, go no further. For the current state of the world, check the Status page.
Ankama’s support states, on its page about behaviors to report (updated March 4, 2026), that promoting fraudulent sites, including private servers, is among the cases handled by support, and that the use of prohibited third-party software, such as emulators, is not. These pages refer to Ankama’s terms of use and rules of conduct. This article does not contain legal advice and makes no claim about Ankama’s position on Togu.
Checking the domain and the file
Before opening a file, check:
- the domain: type it yourself, or use a bookmark, rather than a link received in a conversation; compare it character by character with the official list;
- the origin of the link: an ad, a directory or a video points to a site; it is not itself a download;
- the file name and the platform: an installer for a different system than yours, or an unexpected format, is a warning sign.
On Mac, Apple explains in Safely open apps on your Mac (published May 27, 2026) that macOS checks the signature of software downloaded outside the App Store and, by default since Catalina, its notarization. If a warning appears, read it. Do not disable your Mac’s protections to get around it: if in doubt, contact the software’s publisher or skip the installation. Our guide to downloading a game without falling for a fake installer details these checks, including a file’s hash.
Choosing the right link
Ask yourself two questions. Are you looking for Ankama’s official game? Then the download page on www.dofus.com is the source. Are you looking for the launcher of a private server? Then only that project’s page is authoritative, and nothing entitles it to claim to be the publisher; for Togu, that is the Download page, and what you find there depends on what the project has published.
Still in doubt? Don’t download anything, and check the FAQ or the rules page. To understand what this kind of project is, read our definition of an emulator.
